Napo, forest excursion & chocolate
The panoramic view of the Napo River and the marvelous landscape makes this a perfect place for visitors to experience the beauty of the Amazon.
Witness one of the largest tributaries of the Amazon River, walk through primary rainforest, discover giant trees and the magic of wildlife. Learn about medicinal plants, their uses, and uncountable secrets about the Kichwa tribe of the Amazon.
This adventure is available for all ages and abilities and it’s one of our experiences open to groups or families.

Napo, forest excursion & chocolate
We will start in the Caveman office at 8:30 am. There we will be picked up and transported for 50 minutes to La Punta Ahuano. From there a motorized canoe will take us about 20 minutes to the pat where the tour will start.
We will begin with a walk through primary rainforest, where we will have the opportunity to observe some small mammals like monkeys and agoutis, different types of birds, reptiles and also a variety of insects; this hike takes 2 hours, which can be extended according to the interests of the adventurers.
After the jungle trek we will enjoy a delicious lunch, and relax for about 40 minutes.
After lunch, we will cross the Napo River to visit a Kichwa family; they will show us how they live, how to harvest their products, and their traditional food preparation.
We will also have the opportunity to taste the unique handcrafted chocolate of the natives of the area.
Next, we will take the motor canoe upstream the Napo river to visit this interesting animal traps museum, where we will learn the hunting techniques and skills developed by the Kichwas. This visit to the museum will take us around 1 hour.
After our beautiful cultural experience and our walk, we will complete the day, we will travel back to Tena for 50 minutes.
